HMMM-I discover via a site on Greek mythology, Theoi.com that the polecat or skunk is a familiar of Hecate. I have had a connection to skunks since the night when a pregnant skunk hid under Robert's house and sprayed. I thought hell had landed. I was staying in Robert's house during his months in bed with the brain tumor. I was weeks getting over the shock had to stay at a friend's house for a couple of days.
Since that time I have been interested in skunks. I heard her come back looking for her safe place one night and she was disappointed and I wanted to let her in but I know of no way that we can live together. I still run into skunks but what happened months later is that I heard someone rustling the leaves outside and living alone i was afraid and I creeped to the window and looked out of a corner of the curtains and there were three skunks one large and two small playing in the moon light. It seemed as if they were giggling and laughing. I was so moved by the image of the skunks playing in the moon light. Reading that they are familiars of "bright coiffed Hecate"the only one who heard Persophone's cry when she was abducted and raped by Hades, I was so touched.
